Graphic Designer Task List

Welcome to your Task List! The Sudbury Savoyards Task Lists are designed to be used as a guideline for how you can successfully complete your job in the current production. The task list is divided into five sections: In order to keep this task list current and helpful, please edit it as you see fit. You will be asked to turn in your marked-up copy at the Debriefing Meeting. You can also send any changes electronically by clicking here or the link at the top of this page.

Task Details

Prepare t-shirt and sweat shirt draft design

Prepare T-shirt and sweat shirt draft design, probably similar to the poster. This design must accord with the Stage Director's artistic vision for the show. Design should include the dates and year of the show, as well as the name of the show and group name. The draft should be ready for the Board to review at the September Board meeting. See the Calendar for the exact date.

Get final sign-off from the Board and get the design to the Producer so the shirts can be ordered in time for Two-Ring.

Prepare poster/flyer draft design

Poster should include: 'Gilbert and Sullivan', show title and sub-title, map, performance location, dates (with year), days, and times, ticket prices, names of Stage director and Music Director, telephone number(s) and address for tickets, 'sponsored by SUMC', 'all proceeds donated to the relief of world hunger'. Playbill cover should include: 'Gilbert and Sullivan', show title and sub-title, performance location, dates (year), names of Stage director and Music Director, 'sponsored by SUMC', 'all proceeds donated to the relief of world hunger'.

Prepare design for first station signs.

Specify layout and copy for fire station signs (signs are 4' x 8'), ideally on a transparency with the desired aspect ratio. Specify lettering color(s). The design should be completed by the first tech day as this is a task that can be started immediately.

Prepare ticket design

Ticket copy contents: 'Sudbury Savoyards', show title, show location, performance dates*, days of week, times, prices (Regular, Senior/Student, group/cast sales), colors, and 'All proceeds are donated to the relief of world hunger.'
*For the last several years, we have not had specific dates printed on the tickets, with the exception of the mid-week show. Tickets have just been 'Regular', 'Student/Senior', 'Child' and the mid-week date. Ticket prices are determined by the Board.

Get Signatures

Obtain signatures from both the Chairman and the Head Pastor of the Church. These signatures should be scanned and incorporated into the final certificate design. Back to Quick List

Deliver Final Playbill Cover Design

Deliver playbill cover final layout to Playbill Layout Chief. Make sure that deadline is met - Playout Layout Chief will set deadline.

Produce Certificates

The certificates should be completed for all names supplied by the Database Manager. These should be delivered to the Chairman when completed.

Additional Certificates

Any additional certificates needed for people whose names were not submitted earlier should be completed now. All certificates are delivered to the Chairman for the Cast Supper.

Attend Debriefing Meeting

The Producer is responsible for setting for scheduling the Debriefing session, generally held within a month of the show closing. The meeting is to go over the production, focusing on areas of great success and areas which need significant improvement. The Stage Director should plan on attending this meeting to contribute input and hear feedback.
