The Sudbury Savoyards is pleased to present On Golden Pond as its 13th Summer Show production. Making her directing debut with the Savoyards, Mary Spinosa-Wilson has over thirty years experience producing and directing for both adults and children. She is an adjunct professor for the theatre department at Becker College and is pursuing her certification in drama therapy. Mary owns and operates Team Theatre, Inc., a therapeutic theater program for individuals aged 5-21 with various disabilities, and is a co-founding partner of Starz-N-Lightz, a non-profit production company for children.
Don Hawkes, in the role of Norman Thayer, Jr., is a newcomer to the Savoyard stage, although a long-time aficionado of Sudbury’s G&S productions. Most of his roles on-stage and as stage manager have been with Vokes Players of Wayland, and we are happy that his daughter encouraged him to audition for the cantankerous part. Ellen Simmons is happily re-living her days at Camp Winnetaska in the role of Ethel Thayer. Now considered a Sudbury Savoyard veteran, she just completed two terms on the Board of Trustees, serving three years as Chairman, and was worried she would not have much to do this summer so she is also wearing the hat of Co-Producer (and Props) along with Donna Roessler. Charlie Martin, played by Cliff Blake, is the local mail carrier with an unfulfilled crush on the Thayer’s daughter, Chelsea. Cliff has quite a theatrical resume but before becoming an actor he built a successful advertising business that produced many a direct mail campaign. He considers the role of Charlie as theatrical poetic justice – delivering all the junk that he once helped produce. Newcomer Carolyn Cafarelli is thrilled to participate in her first production with the group, and especially to be playing Chelsea Thayer Wayne, a role she has wanted ever since first seeing On Golden Pond in the movie theater. No stranger to the Savoyard stage, summer or winter, John Gorgone plays Bill Ray, Chelsea’s dentist-fiance, who brings his teen-aged son, Billy, played by Randy Wilson, to the pond. John is currently serving as Treasurer on the Board of Trustees and hopes there will be alot of ticket sales in order to keep making our donations to world hunger relief. Randy is studying voice and plays lacrosse and will be entering the 9th grade at Acton Boxborough High School in the fall. Behind the scenes are Stage Manager Dennis O’Brien, Set Designer Tom Powers, Set Dresser Andrea Roessler, Sound Designer Peter A.
