Fundraising Campaign

Thank you for your support of our 2019-2020 season! We had a wonderful production of HMS Pinafore in February, and are delighted to reflect on the fact that both our 2018-2019 and our 2019-2020 fiscal years have been enormously successful! This is due in large part to our fundraising efforts, and the support of our generous patrons, who put us on solid financial ground. We feel confident in having a robust future, provided that our supporters continue the momentum we have begun. This is why we need your help!

The Sudbury Savoyards had a busy winter. We took on a new project this year, in conjunction with Longfellow’s Wayside Inn and the Omni Parker House in Boston. These two venues invited us to bring a traveling group of 6 actors to portray the 27 characters Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol to a variety of audiences. In this context, we have been able to rejuvenate our charitable spirit through a partnership with A Place to Turn in Natick, and The Greater Boston Food Bank. Donating to the relief of world hunger has been an important part of our philosophy since our first show in 1961. We also have plans to present this timeless tale again next December at the Martha Mary Chapel in Sudbury!

In February 2020, we had an extremely positive experience presenting HMS Pinafore. Under the direction of Jacqueline Haney and musical directors Kathryn Denney and Lindsey Soboleski, we took the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School stage by storm from February 21-29, 2020. Producers Graham Daley and Sara DeLong did an excellent job coordinating the details and selling tickets.

Still, as with any theater group, ticket sales do not cover our costs. Especially as we have watched Broadway go dark and theaters across Massachusetts postpone or cancel spring productions, we realize the incredible power of theater to bring people together and tell important stories. In this vein, we ask you to be part of our second annual Fundraising Effort. With the help of our devoted supporters, past, present and future, our theater company can maintain its excellence and fulfill its goal to be an open, inclusive community.

For 59 years, The Sudbury Savoyards has been presenting Gilbert and Sullivan’s operettas "On a GrandScale" with a large volunteer chorus and a full volunteer orchestra. Will we make it to 60? With your help, absolutely! Our fully independent Non-Profit Organization has substantial operating expenses each year, in addition to the funding required to put on shows. Our 2021 Main Stage show will be Gilbert and Sullivan's final collaboration, The Grand Duke, which is a company favorite and a very seldom presented operetta. Money that we raise this year will support storage space, technical set building space, performance space rental, costumes, makeup, construction materials, sound and lighting equipment, and other theatrical needs.

Last summer we presented a beautiful production of the timeless and timely 12 Angry Jurors. Audiences could be heard during intermission, and for hours after the completion of the show, having meaningful conversations about the American Justice System, “Reasonable Doubt,” and the nuances of finding truth in opinion.

Now would be the perfect time to support us with a tax-deductible donation of any size that fits into your family’s budget. Your support will allow “Gilbert and Sullivan On a Grand Scale” to continue delighting audiences. Your tax-deductible contribution will entitle you to be listed in all of our programs throughout the year. Please choose a level of support that works for you, and use one of these methods to support the Sudbury Savoyards.
